About James Cole

JAMES COLE - guitarist, keyboardist, singer, and songwriter of notorious repute – originally hails from Sugartit, Kentucky. He was a member of SHAKE IT recording artists, THE CUSTOMS, and founding member of NEW ROSE recording artists, THE AUBURNAIRES, as well as THE COLE BROTHERS, and BLOODSHOT RECORDS recording artists, BARRENCE WHITFIELD & THE SAVAGES and numerous other bands and projects. He has also done session and/or production work with bands scattered throughout the morally impoverished yet culturally rich Ohio River Valley, as well as various hillbilly and race music combos on either side of the Mason-Dixon Line.

James Cole has performed in venues such as CBGBs (nyc), METRO (chi) and an assortment of dumps and dives all over this great land. In one band or another, James has been fortunate to have been on the bill with or opened for JAMES BROWN, THE RAMONES, THE ROMANTICS, THE CRAMPS, JOHNNY WINTER, IGGY POP, and BLUE OYSTER CULT among others.

James Cole’s original compositions – including “LONG GONE” and others – are published via BUG Music/Nashville/BMG (BMI) and have been covered by scores of bands throughout the U.S. and Europe including such notables as THE LYRES, THE CHESTERFIELD KINGS, and Stockholm’s very own THE BOTTLEUPS, not to mention THE DEVIL DOGS and YO LO TENGO. CINCINNATI MAGAZINE (Nov. 2010) cites “LONG GONE” as the greatest rock and roll song to ‘come out’ of Cincinnati since 1970!

Be sure to catch Mr. Cole in his cameo appearance - as the (slightly addled) guitar player – in what James considers to be “the worst movie ever made”, that being the Columbia Pictures smash hit “FRESH HORSES” starring beloved matinee film idols, Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald, available in cut-out bins everywhere.

James Cole currently resides in Newport, Kentucky and is cared for by his wife, his two daughters, and his dog, Wolfalulu.
